when it comes to bedding, I am a serious advocate for all-white everything. white sheets, white duvet cover, white pillowcases, white shams. to me, there is nothing more luxurious than peeling back a bright-white down comforter and slipping between crisp, white sheets. and they're so easy to keep clean by adding bleach whenever you do a load of whites.
BUT...lately, I have been playing around with patterns. I've been incorporating some vintage patterned percale sheets into the mix and it's been kinda fun! suddenly I'm a sucker for floral prints, who knew! it's been fun to pair a patterned fitted sheet with a white top sheet, grey-striped pillowcases, and a white duvet. I'm living on the edge, you guys, it's wild.
so naturally, I instantly became obsessed with these D. Porthault linens, which happen to be bananas-expensive.
how do you dress your bed? are you into white beds or do you prefer color? any favorite bedding items that I need to know about?

Like you I tend to be averse to patterned bedding (patterned anything in fact), but I have gone the linen route, as in one hundred percent pure flax linen. I don't think I could ever go back now, and linen just keeps improving with age, while patterns fade...

For the most part all my linens (sheets, cases, duvet covers) are white. This Winter I bought flannel sheets, cases, and duvet cover in a white and black mattress ticking design. I do add color with quilts, throws, and pillow covers. I have lots of pillows (I always have four on the bed and add others as the whim takes me) and they're a great way to change the look. Although as I look at my stack of linens the colors, in order of frequency, are basically white, blue, and white/black/gray.
