it's busy times around here, y'all! I thought you might wanna see one of the projects I'm working on, especially since it's for one of my most favorite people ever. I'm super lucky to have some crazy-talented friends and even luckier that sometimes those friends become my clients! contrary to what some might say, I really love working with friends, especially when they have great taste and are open to whatever my brain dreams up. Veronica Sheaffer is one of those fabulous people and I was stoked when she asked me to help give her fancy new office a little facelift.
Veronica already had a handful of great pieces to work with and after spending a bit of time in her light-filled, industrial-ish studio, I was brimming with ideas. I knew she wanted some separation to the spaces (office area, client meeting area, working area, etc) but she also wanted to pull the whole room together at the same time. she threw out some needs & wants, likes & dislikes, and I got to work. this is what I came up with:
I wanted the space to perfectly reflect Veronica's polished aesthetic with little hints of vintage cheek. her gowns are absolutely stunning and the space should echo their vibe. we really wanted clients to feel welcome and relaxed in the space, so I brought in some layered textures that balanced cozy and professional. gold tones are found throughout: in the large shelves that flank the mirror, in the cabinet hardware, and in the amazing gold chain that will suspend the mirror and the terrarium wall. It's important to have some living elements in every space, but because Veronica's office gets more diffused light than direct sun, I thought the muted, dusty greens of air plants would be a perfect solution.
we'll hang a floor-to-ceiling white linen curtain with gold tassels to do double duty- it'll divide the office/client area and the working/intern area and it'll provide a private space for brides to slip into their wedding dress.
I found the perfect carpet for a SONG at a remnant warehouse and Veronica just texted me a photo of it yesterday:
she's going to meet with her friend Heather Shouse of Bottle & Branch about commissioning a terrarium wall installation. it's going to look amaaaaaazing. seeing this kinda stuff come to life is exactly why I adore what I do!!
it's going to be a jam-packed week, so come back for more updates, reveals, design boards, and probably a bunch of rambling. you know you love it.
