wide open spaces

because I'm sure you're totally curious, here's my recipe for a perfect zone-out evening:  make (or order) some kind of delicious meal (sushi or pizza?) and settle down in front of 2 episodes of House Hunters International with a bottle of wine.  the show is pretty terrible, but I loooooove getting the chance to peek in on the housing market in other countries.  

without fail (and especially after a couple glasses of wine), Mike and I start making declarations, like "I could totally live there!  let's do it, let's move to (insert country here)!"  and then we sit and talk about how much fun it'd be to start all over in Colombia, France, Costa Rica, Berlin...

I'm usually the one pulling for a European city (ahem, please refer to Friday's fantasy-apartmement post), but then...I run across charming little concrete bungalows like this one and I'm all "well...yeah, maybe, let's move to the beach."

it's so bright, airy, and open-- wouldn't this be the best house for dinner parties?!  I can picture the giant glass doors pushed all the way to the walls and a bajillion tea lights everywhere, all nestled in the succulents out in the garden.  we'd make a big batch of sangria, cook up some fresh chicharones, and crank up the music...aye yai yai!
