it's funny to hear people talk about brass. people loooove to hate brass, especially on my favorite guilty pleasure, House Hunters. older people find it amusing that brass and wallpaper are "making a come back". and then there are those who understand the difference between good brass and bad brass...those who see the beauty reflected in that gorgeous gold patina...those who sometimes turn into people like me, who are drawn to brass like the proverbial moth to a flame. like a fruit fly to a glass of cabernet, like adorable design bloggers to AltSummit...
I love brass. I am also on quite a fox kick these days, especially since my new last name is quite close to the French word for fox. it's our family animal. (what, don't you have a family animal??) and being from Kentucky, I've grown up with equestrian paraphernalia scattered all over my house, so naturally I have the leanings to do the same thing to my own house.
brass horses n' foxes, all day, err'y day.
I found everything here via Mayer Mills: brass bit drawer pulls, brass fox door knocker, brass crop desktop magnifying glass, brass horse finial
I want pairs of both of these rad brass fox candle holders! I'd actually put green-tipped candles in Mr. Tophat, so maybe just one will do.
is this thing incredibly creepy?? or...is it kinda amazing? is it too...Eyes Wide Shut or is it appropriately haunting and mysterious. it's an andiron, by the way. so imagine two of these staring at you from within the fireplace, with flames dancing behind them, and glowing coals gleaming in the vacant eyes.
okay, yeah. it's scary. but I still want them.
